This course is designed to allow students to develop an understanding of the role music plays in people lives. In the use of textbooks, listening, videos, and lectures, music will develop the abilities to recognize various types of music, instruments, use music notation and make thoughtful criticism of musical works.





This course is designed to allow students to develop an understanding of the role music plays in people lives. Students will learn to play the steel drums and steel band instruments as they prepare for multiple performances. They will be required to participate in all steel band activities including rehearsals and events. Students involved in varsity athletics are expected to participate in concerts during the year.
Adv Steel Band
Ukulele is intended for the beginning player. The course will include the basic fundamentals of playing, including strumming techniques, chords, reading music, rhythms, and tablature (TAB). Other areas of exploration will be blues music, folk songs, and improvisations. School-owned instruments will be provided.
