This course shows students how classroom learning translates into marketable skills. Through hands on learning and local business involvement, students will engage in career-related experiences to acquire basic skills in various career fields. These opportunities provide students with tangible experiences to begin career decision making. Teachers have the flexibility to select career fields relating to Ohio’s in-demand jobs as well as skills and activities that align with local priorities. Course Requirements There is only ONE required objective for this course: Students will develop an understanding of the training and skills required for success in occupations within Ohio’s 16 career fields listed below:

• Construction Technologies
• Education and Training
• Engineering and Science Technologies
• Finance
• Health Science
• Hospitality and Tourism
• Human Services
• Information Technology
• Law and Public Safety

Additional units are designed by the instructor and the leadership within a district, based on the needs of the students and the interests of the community. Teachers should design and choose goals, outcomes, experiences and assessments that fit the needs of their own student populations and align them with district expectations. Depending on the grade level and needs of the students, course goals and outcomes may change frequently.
Career Connections instructors must find meaningful ways to involve business and industry partners, include direct instruction of in-demand, high-wage and high-skill jobs and help students align their goals to CTE pathways available in the district.
- Level 1 Teacher: Bart Rice
This class will introduce students to the basics of a PC (personal computer). A large portion of this course will be dedicated to Keyboarding since the ability to "touch type" will be vital to the rest of the school classes. Data has shown that students who can keyboard with more speed and accuracy will have more success in school as well as higher level work opportunities.
Computer Science 5 topics will include:
- Using Moodle
- Computer Input - keyboarding, mouse, touch pad, touch screens, microphone, cameras, etc...
- Computer Output - monitors, projectors, speakers, etc...
- Processing - CPU, circuit boards, microchips, etc....
- Computer Storage - Ram/Rom, flash drives, USB, Cloud, etc.....
- Online Safety
- Application Tools - Google Doc's, Google Slides, etc.......
